Halliburton Capstone Project
In my senior year of undergraduate mechanical engineering, I worked on a year-long capstone project with five peers. We were tasked with solving various issues related to Halliburton’s continuous cement mixer and had the freedom to approach them as we saw fit. Our final solution was a gas-spring-assisted bracket that reduced the effort needed for operators to open and clean the mixer after use.
Throughout the project, we maintained continuous communication with Halliburton and even had the opportunity to tour some of their facilities. We were also thrilled to win the Mechanical Engineering Department's project showcase!

Here is a video of the device functioning (though not yet finished). As seen it requires very little force to open up the mixer.
